Chalal village, a forest stroll across the Parvati footbridge
Kasol is a village in the Parvati Valley of the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, India, on the banks of the Parvati River between Bhuntar and Manikaran.
Kasol was a quiet hamlet on the road to the hot springs and shrines of Manikaran. From the late 20th century it became a stop for backpackers and trekkers, and guesthouses and cafes grew up along the river.
The valley's people speak Kullui and Hindi and have long lived by farming, orchards and herding. Travellers from many countries pass through, and the village's cafes reflect that mix.
Manikaran, a few kilometres up the valley from Kasol, has hot springs beside the cold Parvati River.
