Dandeli is a town and taluk in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India, in the forested Malenadu region on the Kali River.
Dandeli grew around a paper mill and timber in the 20th century, and the forests around it were protected as a wildlife sanctuary in the 1950s; the area is now part of the Kali Tiger Reserve.
Dandeli's people speak Kannada and Konkani, and the town mixes mill families with forest villages, including Siddi communities whose ancestors came from Africa centuries ago.
The Kali Tiger Reserve around Dandeli is known for its great hornbills.
